my favorite things

if i were Oprah and got to have my own episode, here’s what my lucky audience would receive (keep in mind i’m picking things i actually like and not just what sponsors are willing to provide)

… chapstick.  i put it on in the morning and reapply throughout the day.  i always have 2 different types of chapstick on me.  and i can’t apply it directly before sleep because i’ll wake up feeling like my lips are fake.

… shout wipes.  these are my saving grace!  i always have a couple in my purse.  most of them end up being used by other people, but i love that i can always offer them out.

… 3 1/2″ heels.  for some reason this seems to be the most flattering and elegant height in pumps.  i basically collect them.  BCBGirls always has a great pump that’s stylish, not too trendy, and very comfortable. 

… mt dew.  yes, i gave it up once but i’m able to drink it in moderation now.  and there’s nothing like a mt. dew with a subway sandwich.

… popcorn.  not that microwave stuff.  the kernels.  i remember my kindergarten teacher had an air popper.  i spent most of my life just wanting one of those.  i’ve never gotten one, but i’ve learned how to make in on the stove.  and now that i’ve learned all you have to do is drop some sugar in and you’ve got kettle corn, it’s brought my popcorn making to another level.

… ultra low hipster underwear from gap body.  they have this great cut that i’m conviced must look great on every body.  it’s not too expensive,  it’s super comfortable, and it’s just sexy enough.

… calvin klein bras.  they’re so comfortable and come in really great styles & prints.  i recommend Macy*s and the CK outlets so you don’t have to break the bank.

… blue box macaroni and cheese.  not much to explain.  it’s perfect.

… jockey knee highs.  they’re like putting on satin socks.  i prefer to get them at marshalls or tj maxx where they’re more affordable but just as great.

… pledge citrus dust cloths.  they’re like swiffer sheets for your hands.  they grab all of the dust they come in contact with and they have a really nice scent.  love these!

… almonds.  a lifetime supply.  they’re great and quite possibly the healthiest thing you can snack on anywhere.  plus if you get bored of raw almonds you can make them into spiced nuts, or dip them in chocolate, and i’m sure there are other things.

… portable xm.  i got it when i used to work for my old co., it was what everyone had.  since then i’ve become quite obsessed.  i can’t imagine living without it.

… a laptop with wireless card.  i can’t stress how wonderful it is to have an aircard and a pc you can use anywhere… airport, crappy hotel, the car, wherever you want.

… all 7 seasons of the Gilmore Girls.  you have no idea how fast i’d pick up and move to stars hollow if it existed.  if nothing more than to be bffs with lorelei.

… alfani pjs.  okay, so it’s another Macy*s reference, but their jersey knit pjs are the most comfortable things i’ve ever worn.  i love the gowns, but the pants and tops are great too.  i grab whatever they have every time i’m there.

… bobby pins.  i can’t even tell you how many of these i have.  they’re everywhere i go, i tend to leave piles of them.  but they’re great just to carry a few in your pocket or purse.  that way if you need to pull any hair back quickly, you just grab ’em and you’re done.

… clinique tenderheart lipstick/gloss.  very easy to wear and can be very casual.  looks great with almost any skin tone.

… franklin covey gift cards.  i would give out the planner i use but i’ve sworn by a style before and then my planning needs changed.  this way everyone could pick out the system that works for them.  i love these.  i can carry all of the info i need and keep my schedule together (since i seem to be getting more forgetful in my aging years).

… body shop body butter.  it’s heaven.  put it on right after a shower and your skin will stay moisturized for days.  they come in such great scents too… i prefer the light and more natural ones like grapeseed and olive oil.  their cranberry one used to be my signature scent… but then they made is seasonal.  and i believe grapeseed has been discontinued  : (
