it’s always like this

over dinner

Filed under: maybe it's me, the love boat — notsojenny @ 8:42 am

one night at our kitchen table this could be overheard…

notsojenny: so, i’ve been thinking

M: okay?

nsj: and we don’t have a codeword.

M: what??

nsj: you know, like if something really bad were to happen, we don’t have a codeword.

M: um, okay… what?

nsj: like if someone was holding me hostage and i had to call you, or if someone brings me into the house at gunpoint, you know… i need a codeword to alert you that there’s trouble without getting myself pistol whipped.

M: okay, how about “help”?

nsj: no, it has to be something more discreet.  something i can say to you that would sound normal to someone else but you’d know it meant something more.

M: like a pet name maybe?

nsj: yah, that would be perfect.  but, hmm, like what?

M: how about “porkchop”?

nsj: yah, i like that.   but maybe too much, i think i want to call you porkchop now hun.

M: okay, we’ll work on it.

needless to say we still don’t have a codeword.  mainly because every time we think of a name to call each other it either sounds totally obvious or i kinda like it.
i know i watch too much tv but these are the kinds of things i think about, especially when i’m out walking my dog after 11 at night (i know i’m a bad doggie mommie).

  1. I had a code word when I was younger that I was supposed to use if someone other than my mom picked me up from school or something. Hmm, maybe i need another one now :)

  2. Damn – we don’t have a codeword either. Guess we’ll have to figure one out now.
