wedding recaps

Filed under: a wedding story — notsojenny @ 9:01 am

okay, so as you’ve already picked up on wedding recaps are beginning… and there will be privacy attached.  i’m not worried about the details being seen by everyone out in the interwebs.  it’s just me!  putting my face, and my husband’s face, out there is not something i do freely.

but as the photos come in there will be things i want to share.  reactions, moments, whatever.

so when i do that those posts will be password protected.  it’s not that i don’t want you to see them, i just want to be able to control who does.  some of you have the password, some of you will need to ask for it (some again : )

on to the business of wedding recaps.  i’ve been a wedding blog reading whore for over a year… and i always dreaded the recaps!  i mean really, i couldn’t stand when people wrote a post for every freakin hour of their wedding day.  i mean, yeesh, are you really THAT self absorbed?  do you really think people you don’t even know want to live through THAT many details of your wedding?!  we just want to see the high level over views, right?  how everything comes together.  the sets of photos that Southern Weddings Magazine puts together are just enough…

then i got married.  and the next morning i knew, i knew EXACTLY why those girls did it.  it’s not for a single internet blog reader out there… it’s for the brides!  and it’s not because we think people really care that much about every single moment of our wedding day but it’s because WE want to see it!  we want to see it ALL!  we want to RELIVE it!  because honestly, the day is a flash.  everyone says it, everyone says take it in, absorb it… and i did, we did… but no matter how much we took in that day we missed so much more.  we missed the facial expressions on our mothers as we said our vows, we missed the flower girls dragging each other down the aisle (at least i did since i was around the corner), i missed the nervous but beaming smile on M’s face when he walked into the sanctuary… we missed SO MUCH MORE!  it’s not because we were busy or preoccupied but it’s because you don’t get the angles to see these things.  your back is to your guests for the ceremony, you’re trying to see everyone at the reception.

so i’ll do my best to keep it to a minumum, but i apologize in advance… i feel like i missed everything that evening, i wish it was 10x longer, i can’t wait to see it all through the camera and video lenses, i love talking to everyone and hearing about how they experienced the day, the night, the week.

as pictures come in i’ll try to make it all come clear for you… as much as for myself.  so far no pictures have come in… so sit tight.  i’ll cover everything else in the meantime : )

  1. I have always seen my blog as a place to document the little things in life for myself and if it doesn’t always entertain readers, then that’s ok. of course i want it to be interesting, but sometimes you’ve got to do it for yourself too. And personally, the recaps were some of my favorite parts – so bring ’em on! :)

  2. If you are comfortable, I’d like to read the protected recaps see how all the details came to fruition! If not, no worries, I’ll keep reading public posts.

  4. Well, I’m loving reading these recaps, for what it’s worth : ) All together like this, it’s like getting to jump ahead to the next chapter, or watching next week’s episode immediately, without having to wait, because it’s all syndicated now … and this way, you have it archived, and you’ll always be able to look back. Keep ’em comin!
