accidents will happen

just about 3 weeks ago we sent out our invites on a monday morning

on thursday we received our first responses in the mail!

and ever since then i’ve been looking forward to getting the mail every single day!  i love opening it up to find a little cream colored envelope or two.  and honestly, the days when there are none in there are kind of a letdown.  but so far we’ve only received one “declines with regret” so that’s cool.

but the day that first two were in the mail was very exciting!  i was really eager and opened up the first one as i walked down the driveway back to the house.  i read it from top to bottom and then stopped dead in my tracks.  “you’ve got to be kidding me!” is all i could think.  because as i read it over and over again here’s what the bottom of the RSVP card said…

rsvp

did you see it?  “on of before” instead of “on or before”… i guess the reason we missed it is because we were just too close to it, we knew what it was supposed to say so that’s how we read it.  the mind does funny things like that.  i’m hoping that most people don’t notice it either because of that mind trick but if they do, oh well.  it was frustrating to see only because we’d looked over these things so many times.  i’d print everything off for M to look at before i went ahead and printed more.

it’s because of him that the invites even went out with the correct wedding date… i’d written in a tuesday date for whatever reason and he caught it in our little homemade proofing process.  i guess that’s also why you pay professionals, but really, it’s not a big deal.  the perfectionist in me hates that people saw this and thought we’re just sloppy, or whatever it is you would think when you see a typo on a wedding invite.  but again, in the grand scheme of things, it’s nothing.  it’s over and done and we can’t control it since they’ve all gone out already so we’ve moved on.

although there is still that part of me that wants to bring it up to people just to prove i’m not a total idiot and didn’t think that “on of” is the proper wording.  but then there’s a part of me that says “who cares!” and that part is louder these days.  why bring it up when that’ll only point it out to those people who didn’t even notice.

we’re still getting married and people are still attending.

i really can’t wait!!  just about 50 days left!!

~ today i learned… the marriage of Sheik Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum’s son to Princess Salama in May 1981 in Dubai was the most expensive wedding EVER – $44mm! ~

  1. Yeah, def don’t bring it up because I bet a lot of people didn’t even notice. They probably j ust saw the actual date to reply by and that’s it.

Also. It happens to the best of us. Proofing is a major aspect of my job. Yesterday I sent out a release saying that the city offices of my client would be closed on Friday. The subject of the email said Friday, the body of the email said friday, but in big, bold 18pt Times New Roman, it said “[Name of City] City Offices Closed Monday” Ugh. I almost died when I saw what I had done. And it was too. late.

Your big day is right around the corner!

  3. I didn’t notice it the first time I read through either, I wouldn’t worry about it. Congrats again! What’s with the password protected posts though?

  4. Well that just stinks. But I’m with the others; I totally missed it the first time, too. And I’m paid to be an editor! Here’s hoping the guests are so excited by the idea of your marriage that their minds just blow past it as well…
