it’s always like this

we’ve got it

shoes that is.

bridesmaid shoes.

my matrons of honor, with dresses in tow, dropped the kids with their hubbies and headed to DSW.   it wasn’t long before i received a phone message with a picture of 3 pairs of shoes lines up, followed immediately by a picture of the dresses with one pair of shoes.  they called me to ask what i thought.   i was completely honest with them.

MOHs: so, what do you think of the shoes?  do you like that last pair?
notsojenny: the better question is do YOU like them.
MOHs: we picked out a few and narrowed it down to those.  we both like that pair best and even as we were standing there trying to decide people passing by told us they’d pick those ones too.
notsojenny: that’s great, then go with those.
MOHs: but do you like them?
notsojenny: if you guys like them, that’s all that matters.

so they bought them.  then i headed out the next day to my DSW to find them and purchase with my 30% off coupons.  in the end each girl saved $15 and still got a pair of shoes that they both really like and they say they’ll wear them again.  i double checked with them to make sure the heel is the height they want (each of their husbands are shorter than them so they’re both cautious about buying shoes with too high of a heel) and they said it was fine.  my conversation with them above was the honest to G truth, i don’t really care about the shoes unless they’re happy with them.  that’s all that mattered to me.  in fact, my scale of what i was looking for in a bridesmaid shoes went as follows (in order of importance)
1. they like them and are comfortable in them
2. they don’t spend a fortune on them
3. hopefully they can wear them again

these shoes fit all 3 criteria so, yes, i was happy with them.  would i have picked them out for myself?  no.  would i borrow them or wear them?  no.  they’re just not my style.  but that doesn’t matter to me.  i’m not wearing them.

i’m just so happy we have another thing completed and saved money in the process, yet again.

here are the shoes they’ll be wearing… they’re in a nude satin with the same color grosgrain ribbon

  1. I bet it feels good to have something else crossed off your list!

  2. Nice work letting their preferences take priority! I’m so impressed by how much effort you’re exerting to be sure these girls aren’t inconvenienced. They may call you bridezilla from time to time, but they’ve no idea how good they’ve got it with you!

Also, on the seven minutes: Seriously? That’s it? Just another tick on the list called “why I’m abnormal,” I suppose…

  4. Cute shoes- very neutral. And 7 minutes?! I would KILL to fall asleep in 7 minutes… it’s more like an hour for me.
