it’s always like this

grrr

Filed under: a wedding story, just shoot me — notsojenny @ 12:54 pm

why is it that every thing i’ve wanted for our wedding, the stuff i’ve been planning for YEARS, is now “in style”?!

i’m not a trendy person, i prefer to like the same things for my entire life, i’m just that way.  and while i understand there are upsides to the fact that everything i like is coming back in style there are definite downsides as well.  for example:

upside: the stuff i want is slightly easier to find as more people are carrying it
downside: it’s WAY more expensive than it was a couple of years ago because more people want it now

upside: when i contact a vendor they know what i’m talking about
downside: they say “oh yes, those are very in right now.  everyone is doing that!”

upside: i’ve wanted these elements for a long time so i know that when i look back on pictures in 10-40 years i’ll still be happy with it all
downside: when anyone else looks back on it they’ll say “oh yah, i remember those were really popular then”

uggh.  this is all so irritating.  it’s bad enough that the names i’ve wanted for my children since, i dunno, forever are way too popular right now so i need to wait a bit to have kids but then it’ll look like i’m just slow on the name band wagon.  and the dog i’ve wanted for at least 10 years is “trendy” right now too.  wtf?!  i know i’m a trendsetter and all but c’mon people let me have SOMETHING of my own… SOMETHING that everyone else doesn’t happen to want at the same damn time!  i’m running into this problem with flowers most importantly and then the color scheme is killing me… it’s great to see how other people use the same color scheme but at the same time i feel like if i see one more picture of a wedding party in brown dresses i’m going to stab myself in the eye!

  1. Facebook chat is a total let down. Gchat is way better.

On to more important things, I’m sorry that all your non-trendy but now-trendy ideas are getting swiped! That’s the worst.

  2. I HATE it when I’m totally just doing my own thing, being my own unique self, and before I know it I’m surrounded by everyone and their mother in the latest trend. It’s just depressing. Still, I’m completely confident that your ceremony will be totally unique and very “you,” irregardless of the outward parallels to the trendy wedding world …

  3. I would be frustrated if I were you too. I’m sure it’ll still have the notsojenny stamp to it though!

  4. Ugh – that totally sucks. I’m sure you’ll find a way to make it your own though. I feel like a lot of people I know are all doing things or using things that I want(ed) to use and now it will seem like I’m copying.
