it’s always like this

gettin’ my fash on

Filed under: absolutely fabulous — notsojenny @ 1:13 pm

since she asked for iti decided, why not?!  who doesn’t love putting on a fashion show in their own home?  especially with stuff you just bought!  it’s always fun to put them on and make sure you made the right decision.  heaven knows i’ve tried things on after i got home only to find out that the store’s mirrors must have come from a funhouse and any sane person wouldn’t have bought something that looked like that on them!

so i put the dresses on and set my self timer for each one.  it’s a daunting task but once i start dancing around and having fun it’s totally worth it.  of course i have lighting issues so you can’t see them the way they look in person, but even after these pictures i’m still very happy with my dresses.  oh, and i added up the original prices and compared them to what i actually paid, and for just these for dresses i saved about $900!  now THAT makes me happy!!

so here’s the one i bought last week – it’s not as cute on camera and it probably looks a little old for me but i’m sure i bought it because it reminds me of the dresses my mom used to always wear in the early 80’s.  they’re just so comfy!! (this one does make my legs look even longer but oh well)  it looks like a tshirt and a skirt with a cute little belt.  very simple.

the next two are the ones i bought on tuesday night.  the first one i already showed you via a professional model… i don’t want to show her up so i’m just showing you the picture that took when i’d made a startling discovery…

nov-dresses-013

what was that discovery? you ask… POCKETS!  i didn’t even realize it!!  SO exciting!!

the next dress cost me the most out of the 4 dresses i bought.  it was over 2x as much as any of the others but i really love love love it.  it’s a shame that my apt. is cave-like because you really can’t see how gorgeous this dress is!  the top is a shade of eggplant and then it goes to black with an eggplant stripe just above the bottom hem.  it also has a belt right around the waist that is perfect!  and the sleeves… oh i love a dress with sleeves!

this last one is the one i wanted to buy last week but ended up buying it this week instead at a ridiculous price.  i think the color is heaven.  yah, a bulky top isn’t ideal for my body but again it’s SO comfy and reminds me of my mom’s old dresses.  i can also put a petticoat under it for a bit of a different look.  yay for anything that lets me wear my petticoat!  the first image is just to show you the color, the second is it with a petticoat and hands in the pockets : )

so those were the 4 Maggy London dresses i bought within 4 days for under $200! ($65 of that was one dress)

anyway when i went to put these in my closet after my little show i saw a dress i’d completely forgotten about and had to put it on!  i bought this dress last year in january, which was totally useful since all holiday parties had passed.  so i Can Not wait to wear it this year!  i am smitten with this dress… if you can’t see it well the top is lace, the skirt is satin, and it has a velvet band in the perfect spot.  i’m a sucker for a V back also.

by the time i was putting this back in the closet i figured what the heck, and put on a couple of other dresses that i love but haven’t really been able to wear much.  so there’s this weird rose/grey/maroon color BCBG dress i’ve had forever (again, it lets me use my petticoat) that i like to twirl in!   then there’s the new dress i just bought from JCrew for next summer, perfect for the beach… maybe a honeymoon?  and there’s the JCrew bargain i got earlier this year and am saving for next summer… can’t wait to pair it with an ivory or rose color cardigan and my new ivory pumps! (it’ll look more flattering when i have a tan again) at this point i was twirling and playing with pockets again.

okay so that last photo isn’t me… hard to tell huh?  haha, anyway i did buy that dress but it’s not showing up at all in pictures so this chick will have to do.

i had to stop there.  when i showed M my shopping exploits the other day he commented that i have a definite shape i prefer.  i always think my dresses change up but i guess they really don’t : )

~ today i learned… i do have a definite shape i prefer on me, and it’s pencil skirt ~

  5. hahaha, magda, you’re too funny, and very sweet. you should see the pictures before i cut my face out… you’d be singin a different tune. when i downloaded them i was actually thinking, wow, how did i do that? i actually look like i may be having a seizure in every single one. it’s awesome and taught me that modeling is much harder than it seems on ANTM. i even had to cut my feet off in some of them because it looked like i was about to crack an ankle… crazy stuff.

  8. I really love the third one !

A quick advice on BCBG dresses: although they are very expensive, I have been able to find a reasonably priced BCBG dress on Twenga.

    Hope that can help :-)
