when models don’t work

Filed under: absolutely fabulous — notsojenny @ 10:25 am

okay, so i’m officially declaring this a shopping focused blog.  at least for the last couple of posts and maybe one or two more this week.

because i just found this image online.

1st - let me say that i have this suit.  i bought it a year ago.  in white.  i was determined to have a one-piece and was beginning to give up.  it seemed like i either needed to get a speedo racing suit or a suit for old ladies.  not what i had in mind.  so when i saw this i was thrilled!  i get compliments every single time i wear it.  i’ve had people ask me where i got it, who makes it, everything you can think of.  there’s nothing better than being in a swimsuit (which, let’s face it is the most vulnerable girls get when it comes to public appearances) and being complimented.

2nd - i’m going to point out that this picture doesn’t do it justice.  you can’t see the detail in the straps.  the way they’re twisted and looped together at the very top of the shoulder.  the model just isn’t right, she looks kinda alien in it.  the chick’s got no hips (not knocking that, in fact i’m jealous of girls w/out hips) i’m just saying that for this suit to look good you need to have hips.  the whole point of the design is to balance out your hips.  so picture this same suit but on someone with hips and you can imagine how fun it is.  when i bought it i couldn’t find a thing about it online i just knew it felt very liz taylor to me so i had to have it.

3rd - i’m going to brag that i got it last year at marshall’s for $39.  the tag said $118.  and now that i’ve finally found the name and everything online this year, it’s still going for about $80.  i’m awesome

4th - i’m one of the best sister’s in the world.  my sister and i have the same body, just different by the lbs.  so when i saw these suits back in marshall’s the other day, but in black, i snagged her one.  unfortunately they didn’t have my size or else i’d have a black one too.  i also bought her a RL beach cover-up similar to the one i have since she was saying she liked mine when we were at the beach during my last visit.  i love shopping for other people… it’s almost as much fun as shopping for myself.

other than this one, i find CK to personally have the best bathing suits.  they’re usually fairly moderate but with just a kick of style, which is what i look for in all of my clothing.  i’ve always been a two-piece girl up until this suit.  i’m convinced now that even though i want to be tan across as much flesh as possible, i also really like parading around in a flattering one piece WAY more than any flattering 2piece.

~ today i learned… owls are left-sighted hunters.  and apparently the animal kingdom knows this, so when you need to buy a fake owl to keep critters (woodpeckers, etc) away from your property make sure you get one with the head facing to the left because the ones facing to the right don’t scare any animals/birds/etc. ~

  1. I’m surprised they even make owls that face right. Tsk Tsk fake owl makers :)

And I desperately need a new bathing suit. Bah!

  3. Dude, you need to move to Boston so we can shop together. It would be dangerous. Like, epically so.

  4. Girls without hips are not attractive, so don’t be jealous of them.

  5. This is actually an awesome one-piece. My problem with one-pieces generally is that my torso is so freaking long, all I usually get is a giant wedgie. I’ve been a bikini devotee for a decade now, but I’d give the whole idea a second chance if I found this one.
