it’s like the twilight zone

i can’t even explain how much i love living on my street.  no one else gets it.  and no matter how much i try to explain to people all the awesome stuff that happens literally  right outside my window they just don’t get it.  not only are the homes gorgeous, but my road is brick, and there’s an easter event that packs the street and a road race that i was able to hang out my window and yell for M for this year because it was raining.

on top of all the other scheduled events that happen  i was just sitting here a minute ago when i heard a noise.  i perked my ears up and listened closely, what is that noise??  then i heard it again.

you know when there’s a cartoon about a fox and then you hear the bugle and suddenly the fox is running for his life from the hunters in red jackets on their horses?  well that was the noise.  it was bugling.  and right as i got to my window i saw 2 horses sprint by.  both had riders in red jackets and one was bugling!  are you kidding me?

by the time i grabbed my camera the excitement level had died down, but i still got a few pictures of what was going by… i have no clue what it was about.  but this place makes me laugh and smile and i love it!!  (click on the pictures and hear bugling in your head so you can enjoy too!)

  • i spilled milk.  i didn’t cry.  but i wanted to.  i pulled 2 containers of milk out of my fridge and one of them smelled bad, really bad.  so instead of dumping it out and putting the bottle in the garbage which i would then have to take out, my lazy butt put it back in the fridge.  except when i did i dropped it, into the fridge.  the top came off and milk started pouring out.  i just stood there like a dummy and watched it.  when it was finished i pulled every single thing out of my fridge, food and shelves alike, and began scrubbing, wiping, and bleaching.  my dinner got completely cold.  but i would rather eat cold dinner than have my fridge start smelling awful in a couple of days.

  • i went to the dermatologist the other day.  when i asked her if there was anything that she could do about the new sun-stache my pills give me, she told me to go off the pill.  when i screamed “NO!” she seemed surprised at my reaction.  so then i calmly explained how “i’d rather have a sun-mustache than a baby”.  her eyes got big and disapproving, so i quickly added “right now.”  then she opened my file folder, looked at my stats (my birthdate apparently), and turned to me to let me know that i’m in my “baby-having-years alright”.  and she began to urge me to have one now.  i didn’t want to get into the cart before the horse conversation with her, but i was pretty ticked that even my dermatologist was telling me i need to hurry up and have a baby.  that doesn’t help my skin!

  • i think the usps is magic.  or something like that.  because i just sent off a birthday card that needs to get from here to CA in 2 days.  sometimes it takes my mail 8 days to get to CT but for some reason i’m convinced this piece of mail will be different.  i have faith in my postman (except for mondays, i think he takes mondays off because i’ve never received a piece of mail on a monday since i moved in)

  • however, i think ups is the opposite of magic.  i sent an overnight emergency rush shipment to a client the other day and they’ve lost it.  all they’ll tell me is that i can file a claim in 8 days.  umm… what about the missing product?  who’s going to pay for that?  and what about the fact that it’s not a street item yet?  i don’t like you ups.

  • while M is gone i’ve decided to entertain myself by contacting all the girls i know to see if they want to go shopping.  i’ve decided i’m going to the local malls tonight and the outlets tomorrow, i’ll probably slip tj maxx in there somewhere too.  E said she’ll go with me tonight, but that she’s going to an event tomorrow… ah yes, the event i was not invited to in front of everyone, how could i forget?  yah, why am i going shopping with her again?  oh yes, because i’m selfish and would rather hang out with someone who i’m not that crazy about than be alone.  i’m fine with it.

  • i’ve got alot to look forward to in the upcoming weeks.  my girl L is coming to visit me next week.  her new boyfriend is not able to make it, so we’ll have a fun girl’s weekend!  my sister, her hubby and girls are coming to visit the following week.  i can’t wait!!  the only thing i love more than seeing my nieces is not having to travel to see them!  then the week after that M is going on a golf trip so i’ll be alone trying to entertain myself again.  i’m not exactly looking forward to that, but it’s on the calendar.

  • i’ve discovered that my singing ability is directly related to the weeks of my cycle.  or maybe it’s my hearing…

  • i ordered part of my niece’s birthday gift early.  i can’t find baby jewlery anywhere so when i saw the elephant necklace i couldn’t stop myself.  and it arrived the other day, i was so excited!  not only do i love getting mail but i thought this was such a cute thing.  but i was disappointed when i opened it to see that it had scratches on it already.  but i called the store right away and they sent me a label so i can exchange it.  they wanted me to swing by, but they’re in NY and…well, i’m not.  but luckily i am way ahead of schedule so i’ve got time, and hopefully i’ll have a replacement soon and it’ll be perfect.  the only concern i have now is that they’re no longer for sale on line… what if they’re sold out and when i return it they tell me they can’t replace it?  i think i’m going to call them again before i send it to make sure.  i’ve already decided to buy my other niece one of the same necklaces… aren’t these the cutest?!

~ today i learned… that the Master’s was not played from 1943-45 due to WWII.  instead cattle and turkey were raised on the grounds to help with the war effort. ~
