the house down the street from me finally sold. it’s been on the market for a while along with a few other houses on my street. there are two houses on my block that are selling for just under 2 million. dollars. but this one? it sold for $4 million! when i hear that it sounds more like “4 bajillion-gazillion dollars” to me. it’s just an amount of money that i can’t even fathom. not just having millions of dollars, but having so many millions that a house could cost you 4 and it’s not an issue. i’m a middle class girl. always have been. my parents kept us there. they worked their asses off to always keep us in nice houses. living in great neighborhoods. going to the best schools. it’s funny because when i moved down here, i found out that many people think everyone from CT is rich. it still makes me laugh. we have ghettos. heck i worked in a bar with a bullet proof door. now, i’m not from the ghettos but i’m also not from Avon. but even though i work hard, and have made alot of efforts to get myself out of debt and stay that way, i still know that a $4 million house will never, ever, be in my range. what i never understand, is what do you do to have that in your range? i know where the CEOs and presidents of some major corporations live down here. they’re in the $2 million dollar homes. and i know that alot of people come from money. their parents make sure they’re always taken care of, so when it’s time to be on their own they start off in a good place. i know that alot of people are self made millionaires. which, of course, if the more impressive of the two. but i still just can’t even figure how much money you have to make to afford a $4mm house and still be able to buy groceries. it blows my mind.
and personally, while it’s a stunning home, if i were blowing that much money on a house, it’d have a pool. an indoor and an outdoor one. or maybe one with a retractable roof. the house would also have to have land. for $4mm i don’t want to see my neighbors. and if i were in the market for a house like that, i’d be signing the papers in those michael kors dresses. and so would my friends. and we’d have to sign them quick of course, before we jaunt off on another fantastic trip!
